”We can’t afford not to install solar. It’s the easiest saving we can make. And when you factor in battery performance, the payback is around 8 months. With solar, we get four years’ battery lifetime; that’s 2-4 times longer than on our vehicles without solar.”
Jon NilssonOperations Manager, Samat International AB
“For us, solar is an obvious business decision. When a solution delivers clear fuel savings and payback in under a year, you act. Our customers expect us to lead on sustainability, and with solar, we can deliver measurable gains while strengthening the bottom line.”
Klaus FogtmannFounder & CEO, Fogtmann / Blue Logistics
“It’s fast to install and fast to pay back – almost from the moment it’s live and the sun is out, we begin to see the return on investment.”
Philip SteinerHead of Sustainability for North and Central Europe, DEKRA
“Green Energy’s ultra-thin and durable solar panels have demonstrated high performance in extreme weather conditions. That gives us confidence they will withstand Sweden’s varied climate and deliver measurable benefits across our fleet.”
Ylva ÖhrnellSustainability Manager, DHL Sweden
"This helps us reduce CO₂ emissions and ~0.8 L/100 km fuel consumption, while increasing battery life. We absolutely recommend the solar panels to other companies – we were and remain convinced of this product.”
Christian OverkämpingWorkshop Manager, Schrõer Transporte FLEET EFFICIENCY
Solar benefits for trucks
Green Energy Solar Systems convert unused roof space into onboard power by charging the existing vehicle battery directly. This easily scalable solution reduces fuel use, extends battery life and cuts CO₂ emissions – with quick installation, fast payback and minimal operational disruption.

PROVEN FUEL & CO₂ SAVINGS
Real value for operators
Solar’s impact on fuel efficiency is isolated and measured using operational data from the truck’s own telematic systems.
In pilots run across European truck fleets, results consistently show solid fuel and CO₂ savings – with fast payback.

BATTERY BENEFITS
Battery benefits for trucks
Solar stabilises battery charge and extends battery life by up to 3×. Batteries stay charged during driving and parking, reducing dead batteries, jump starts and breakdowns. This improves uptime and lowers battery-related call-outs.
With reliable onboard power, there is less need to idle the engine to maintain battery charge. Solar supports vehicles systems and electronics without draining the starter battery. This saves fuel, reduces noise and improves the working environment for drivers.

SUSTAINABILITY
Simple CO₂ reductions
Our solar systems support decarbonisation now, without the cost or infrastructure required for a full fleet replacement.
By reducing diesel consumption, solar delivers immediate CO₂ emissions reductions. It also supports auxiliary power on trucks running on HVO, biogas and electric, improving overall reliability.
For many fleets, solar is a practical way to show measurable progress on sustainability while longer-term transitions continue.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How robust is the solar system for road transport operations?
The solar system is designed to handle demanding road conditions. The CIGS solar panels are water- and shock-resistant, and built to withstand road vibration, extreme weather, scratches from tree branches, and regular truck washes. The charge controller is IP65 certified (water-resistant and dustproof). The panels have a long operational lifespan and maintain at least 80% performance after 25 years.
How long does it take to install a solar system and who handles it?
A standard 180 Wp760 installation typically takes around two hours per truck. Solar panels are bonded to the roof using self-adhesive tape and connected via a charge controller to the existing battery system. Set up in the Green Energy app and you’re ready to go. Installation can be handled by your regular workshop on new or existing vehicles.
Is the installation compatible with OEM requirements?
Yes. No formal OEM approval is required. Systems are installed by OEM workshops or authorised partners, following OEM guidelines for auxiliary equipment installation where available. This ensures the installation remains fully compliant with manufacturer standards and does not affect the OEM warranty.
