Jaks Trucking faced challenges to maintain driver comfort in high temperatures. Hear how solar energy solves the problem

Hear Bakker Bedrijfswagens and Jaks Trucking talk about the Green Energy solar solution.

Jaks Trucking is an international transport company based in the Benelux region, specializing in routes to Italy and Scandinavia. With around 30 employees and a fleet of approximately 10 trucks, they are committed to delivering reliable and efficient transport services across Europe.

The Challenge

One of the primary challenges faced by Jaks Trucking was maintaining driver comfort during their journeys, especially in Italy, where temperatures can soar to 40-50 degrees Celsius. Drivers usually rest during the day and drive at night, making air conditioning crucial to cope with the extreme heat. Jan Spijkers, CEO of Jaks Trucking, described the situation:

“Often, the battery dies within 2-4 hours of using the air conditioning, forcing the driver to run the engine just to have enough power. This not only increases fuel consumption but also wears down the engine.”

To address these challenges, Jaks Trucking sought a solution to minimize engine idling and improve overall driver comfort. After consulting Bakker Bedrijfswagens, they turned to solar panel technology.

The solution: Solar-powered comfort

With the help of Bakker Bedrijfswagens and the Green Energy team, Jaks Trucking has now installed solar panels on three of their trucks. The aim was to harness solar energy to reduce reliance on the engine for powering auxiliary systems, especially the air conditioning. The results were quickly noticeable.

One of their drivers, who had just returned from a trip to Italy, shared his experience:

“I was able to stay the entire weekend in Italy without having to turn on the engine for power. The solar panels provided enough energy to keep the air conditioning running and maintain a comfortable temperature inside the cabin.”

Jan Spijkers also observed significant improvements:

“We are already noticing that the solar panel solution from Green Energy has a positive effect on the drivers’ comfort and battery life. The amount of idling has been reduced significantly, and the drivers are much happier.”

Positive outcomes and future plans

The introduction of solar panels has not only enhanced driver comfort but also led to a substantial reduction in engine idling time, resulting in lower fuel consumption and reduced wear on the trucks. This positive experience has prompted Jaks Trucking to consider expanding the installation of solar panels across their entire fleet.

Green Energy is thrilled to support Jaks Trucking in their efforts to enhance driver comfort, increase operational efficiency, and make the transport sector more sustainable.

Stay tuned for more updates as Jaks Trucking expects to expand the installation of solar panels across their entire fleet.
