Solar at Eberhardt: From building roofs to vehicle roofs

About Eberhardt-Reisen

Operating scheduled bus routes and charter coach travel from the Black Forest since 1931, Eberhardt-Reisen is one of Europe’s oldest tour operators and runs a fleet of 180+ city and intercity buses and coaches. Eberhardt-Reisen’s headquarters and workshop in Engelsbrand already run almost entirely on solar power – and now they are starting to power their buses with solar too.

Challenge

Eberhardt-Reisen was looking for ways to reduce fuel costs and further cut CO2 emissions across its fleet.

Solution

Eberhardt-Reisen fitted 10 Iveco Crossway LE buses with Green Energy 760 Wp solar systems — 5 at its Engelsbrand headquarters, 5 at its Gaggenau depot. The Gaggenau buses also run on HVO100, so combined with solar, CO2 emissions are extremely low.

Reliable Power on Every Route

Solar panels on the buses help keep batteries topped up, whatever the route or schedule — reducing the risk of flat batteries and extending battery lifespan across the fleet.

TESTIMONIAL

“Our headquarters and workshop are almost entirely self-sufficient in solar energy, so why not install solar panels from Green Energy on our buses as well? Although we only recently equipped 10 public buses with Green Energy’s solar systems, the results are already impressive.”

Explore more of the benefits of CIGS Solar Panels

The CIGS solar panel is often recognised on its slim profile, its flexibility and its low weight. CIGS solar panels are better than conventional solar panels in almost every aspect, when it comes to sustainability efforts and especially durability.
