Challenge
DEKRA’s training fleet has unusually high fuel consumption due to frequent starting/stopping and extended idling. Grid constraints in Denmark slowed their electrification plans, so they needed an immediate, infrastructure-free solution.
Solution
DEKRA tested 240 Wp CIGS solar systems on five trucks. Panels were mounted flush on the roof with no changes to training procedures. After strong results, they expanded to 60 trucks.
Outcome
The pilot closely matched DEKRA’s 5% annual fuel-reduction target. Installation was fast, maintenance minimal. DEKRA is now exploring solar for buses and electric trucks.
