MD Logistika cuts fuel costs and emissions with Green Energy solar panels

As one of the Czech Republic’s leading logistics providers, MD Logistika understands the importance of smart, sustainable operations. Specialising in temperature-controlled transport – particularly frozen goods – the company operates a fleet of 166 vehicles and manages two major logistics centres in Dašice and Prague, with capacity for 100,000 pallets.

With efficiency and sustainability always top of mind, MD logistika turned to Green Energy for a way to reduce diesel consumption, extend battery life and shrink its carbon footprint – all without disrupting daily operations.

Why MD logistika Chose Green Energy

“We were looking for a straightforward and effective solution to help us reduce both fuel costs and emissions,” says Bohumil Hána, Director of the Transport Department, MD Logistika.

What stood out?

“The simplicity of the solution and how easily it integrated with our operations. Your team trained our own service staff, so we can now carry out installations ourselves. It fits right into our workflow.”

Sustainability is a core value at MD Logistika but practicality and cost-effectiveness are just as important.

“We support every meaningful solution that helps us operate more sustainably – and this one clearly delivers.” – Bohumil Hána, Director of the Transport Department, MD Logistika.

Results already paying off

“Currently we’ve only measured the impact of the solar panels on fuel from reduced idling. This alone is saving us 150 litres of diesel each year per vehicle, which is fantastic. Not only to our cost, but in terms of battery health and driver comfort,” explains Hána. “We’re now in the process of calculating the full diesel savings and are very keen to see how much more that will positively impact our bottom line and the environment.”

Even with limited data so far, the early gains are impressive:

  •  Fuel savings from reduced idling: Up to 150 litres of diesel saved per vehicle per year
  •  Battery life: Doubled
  • Cost savings: Over €350 per vehicle annually (from idling reduction alone)
  • Operational benefits: Reduced battery strain, less engine idling, and greater comfort for drivers

“Our drivers really like that they can use the vehicle during breaks without restrictions – and at no cost,” says Hána.

Spreading the sustainability message

MD Logistika hasn’t just installed solar panels – they’ve made them part of their brand.

Their newly liveried, solar-powered trailer is turning heads across the Czech Republic. During a recent visit, Green Energy CEO Martin Thaysen and Country Manager Piotr Dusza were proud to see the trailer in action and meet MD logistika’s leadership team.

“Our customers immediately notice the new design. It shows we’re serious about sustainability – and they really appreciate both the look and the positive impact,” Hána adds.

“It’s brilliant to see MD logistika leading the way in adopting practical solar technology.
The challenges they face – managing fuel costs, improving reliability, cutting emissions – are shared across the industry. We’re proud to support them with a solution that delivers real business value.”– Martin Thaysen, CEO Green Energy

Looking ahead

Encouraged by strong initial results, MD logistika now plans to expand solar panel installations across its entire international fleet.

Would they recommend Green Energy?

“Absolutely,” says Hána.“The savings alone give us a competitive edge – and beyond that, it’s the right thing to do for the planet.”
